Tips For An Effective Resort Website

Joy Armstrong

If you are trying to create a website for a resort, you are going to want to make sure that it accomplishes its job, namely that it encourages people to book rooms and tickets to visit the resort. Here are some tips for making your resort website as effective and appealing as possible in order to increase the number of people who stay at your resort.

1. Keep it Incredibly Simple

Don't overwhelm people with pictures of guests having fun at your resort. It might be tempting to have one main picture of a kid going down a water slide and then several smaller pictures surrounding it of people going down a lazy river or enjoying a margarita while in a hammock, but don't do it. Choose one photo of people enjoying themselves per page.

The reason for this is that you need your website to be as easy to navigate as possible, especially if you are also considering offering a mobile site. People who are trying to book rooms and tickets for a resort are going to be spending a ton of money. If they are inconvenienced at all by the booking process, there is a good chance that they will take their money to a resort whose booking procedure is easy and whose website is less overwhelming. You aren't going to get fewer guests if you don't use every picture you have of people going down water slides.

2. Emphasize Packages

Resorts make more money the longer people stay. One easy way to get people to stay is to offer packages of tickets, meals, and room rentals that bundle prices together to make everything slightly cheaper. Try to emphasize these packages by offering suggestions to people who are looking at different room and ticket combinations. For example, if your site notices that someone is looking for two double bed rooms for three days, have a suggestion for a package that has two double bed rooms and four tickets to the resort for a full week pop up. This will help encourage people to spend more time at your resort.

3. Offer the Opportunity to Give an Email In Multiple Places

Finally, have multiple places where you offer people the opportunity to give you their email address so that you can send them great deals and more information about the resort. This will allow you to follow up with people who visit your site and might not have purchased anything yet by sending them additional offers.
